Freelance Writing for Extra Money

Are you looking for a way to make extra money? I'll be publishing a series of blog posts with information about things that people can do to earn a few extra dollars on a regular basis. Here's the first one! ~~Mary White

Freelance Writing

If you have writing skills, there are plenty of opportunities to earn extra money as a freelance writer, creating content for a variety of websites and traditional publications. Here are a few organizations that utilize freelance writers that I have personal experience with. Check them out and see if one or more might be a good fit for you!

  • Bright Hub (apply to write for specific channels based on your expertise)
  • Constant Content (submit articles on topics of your choice or respond to requests; be sure to review guidelines before submitting)
  • Demand Studios (select from available titles in several categories; must be approved)
  • Love To Know (seeking experienced professional writers; mention that you learned about the opportunity from from me if you apply)
  • HubPages (ad revenue share only; anyone can participate)
  • Smorty (paid post opportunities for your established blog)
  • TextBroker (good way to start getting web writing experience)

A word of caution: Keep in mind that if you do a general Internet search for freelance writing work, you're likely to come across a variety of less than reputable "offers". Exercise caution when responding to any "work from home opportunity". Use common sense to weed through what you find. Remember that no one who wants to hire you will ask you to pay money to be considered. Additionally, don't agree to do work for any organization that doesn't "seem right" and that doesn't provide you with verifiable contact information.
